It’s finally fall and as many of us across the country are enjoying the fall colors and getting “basic” drinking our pumpkin spice lattes, it’s time to start thinking about the most wonderful time of the year — Halloween! We love Christmas, but what holiday is the most fun, allows you to get lit with your friends, and celebrate the spookier things of life? It’s none other than All Hallows Eve. With all that being said, it’s time to start planning the ultimate Halloween party and today on the Claffey’s blog, we’re going to give you the essential 5 steps to throw the biggest, baddest and spookiest Halloween party!

We should clarify. We are not giving you tips for throwing a kids party nor a classy fall holiday get-together. No, we are giving you tips for making a party that makes your say YOLO and won’t soon be forgotten. There are a lot of elements of a party that you can forget and still have a lit night. However, booze is absolutely essential! Also, if you plan to throw the biggest, baddest Halloween party, you need to have more than just your usual ice cooler of Coors Lite and jug of jungle juice. You need something different like a steaming, bubbling over witch’s cauldron of punch made with dry ice, shots in plastic syringes, and other spooky drinks. You also need Claffey’s adult popsicles, because you have to have a frozen cocktail that you can keep with you as you party the night away. We can assure you that your guests will love the multiple flavors of our frozen cocktails, their portability and that each popsicle is only 90 calories! Be sure to order your box of Claffey’s today!

Don’t Forget to Have Food

It’s easy to focus entirely on booze and forget about the food. You don’t need food, but we highly recommend it, especially when you’re turning up all night long. You could opt for easy party food like pizza or pizza rolls, but you are throwing the best party of the year — you can do better than pizza. Invest in a cauldron of candy and spooky eats and treats like cake pop eyeballs on a stick, spinach dip in a hollowed out pumpkin, dirt snacks with cookie gravestones, quesadilla mummies, and other fun snacks. Getting creative with your food options allows you and your guest to have fun and to keep everyone full and happy all night long.

If you’ve read any of our other recent posts, you will know that music can make or break your party. Music sets the mood and the wrong mood can cause your partygoers to start thinking about getting some shut-eye long before it’s time to call it quits. The best Halloween party playlist will include some of the classics like “Thriller” and “Monster Mash” as well as some Halloween remixes of some of your favorite party jams. It’s best to vary up the pace of your music throughout the night. However, as the night gets later, keep the party going with songs that you and your guests can’t help but dance to.

Atmosphere is Everything

The next major component of a great Halloween party is the atmosphere. It’s time to embrace everything spooky and make your home into the haunted house you always wished it was. Turn down the lights with battery-powered candles or switch out the regular bulbs of your light fixtures for purple or orange ones. Strategically place a fog machine that will add an extra element of mystery and always be sure to use spider web for added spooky effect. To stay on budget, head to your local Halloween store or even dollar store and pick up a few decorative elements. Or, go all out and theme your home or particular rooms with spooky items from your favorite Halloween movies or shows. Create the Upside Down from Stranger Things or a bloody tribute to Saw!

Costume Contest

A Halloween party is only as fun as the people that dress up. Inspire your partygoers to get extra creative and offer prizes for the best costumes of the night. You could have your guests compete for one big prize such as a crown, a bottle of your most prized alcohol, or a box of Claffey’s wine popsicles. You could also create categories such as “Funniest Costume,” “Best Costume,” “Sexiest Costume,” and “Spookiest Costume.” As the host it’s easy to get sidetracked with party planning, but don’t forget to dress up!

From all of us at Claffey’s, we wish you a spooky holiday and hope that it’s a night to remember! Don’t forget to pick up a box of Claffey’s adult popsicles!
